PLEASE STAND BY
At last week's rehearsal, it was announced that the Nov. 9 rehearsal was cancelled due to the church being closed for the Veteran's Day holiday. This is now in question.
Please plan to be at rehearsal on Nov. 9th. If rehearsal is, in fact, cancelled, you will be notified. Thanks. |

Page Turners Needed!
You DO NOT have to be able to read music to do this. You DO have to pay attention to her and to the music. Judy gives clear instruction about when the page needs to be turned, with either the word "turn" or a large nod of the head.
The one thing she asked is that you refrain from singing while turning pages. Because it is a lot to ask to give up an entire rehearsal to turn pages, we are asking for folks to turn for just half of the rehearsal. This means we need 2 volunteers per rehearsal.
Please contact Mike Dienst, Juliette Frederick or Judy before announcements on the evening of your contribution. Thank you all very much! |

In The Spirit of Christmas...
Since our fall semester program is a combination of music and the spoken word, Brad is still interested in hearing from members who know of meaningful or fun stories or poems in the spirit of Christmas. If you are having difficulty coming up with something, please review the lyrics or the history of the music we are singing. There is undoubtedly food for thought waiting to be harvested! |

Advertising Pays for Program
The ads that we members sell to merchants and service providers in our community pay for our concert programs. If we all sell one ad, it's a breeze. Please consider placing an ad for your own business and/or speaking with folks in your area about placing an ad. It can be as simple as a business card and a check. Please see the Soli website (www.solideogloriacs.org) for ad prices and deadlines or speak to Susan Ramsay, our ad coordinator. Showing a program from a previous concert lets people know exactly how their money is being spent. |

Butter Braids are a big fundraiser for Soli. A sincere "Thanks!" to Marie Suter for her consistent work on this project.

Colorado Springs Children's Chorale
Sunday, October 25, 2009 at 3:00 p.m.
First Christian Church - Free Will Offering
Cascade & Platte downtown, Colorado Springs
A Fall Fanfare of Song, featuring the Springs Singers, directed by Karen Roberts, and the Summit Ensemble, directed by Brad Peterson, from the Colorado Springs Children's Chorale.
The two choirs performing on this program are the Springs Singers, the youngest of the concert choirs, and the Summit Ensemble, the senior concert choir, consisting of high school students from the Pikes Peak area. Formed in 1977 as a civic children's choir, the Colorado Springs Children's Chorale has grown from one choir of 30 children to five choirs of 200 children from all over the Pikes Peak region. The original founders, Bob Crowder and Brad Peterson, were interested members of the community who felt there was a need in the community for a civic children's choir.
The Children's Chorale is a not-for-profit organization and as such is governed by a board of directors. Until 1989 all administrative work was done by parent volunteers on a working board of directors, who did an excellent job, allowing the organization to grow to a point that hiring a general manager and establishing a permanent office were necessary. The staff now consists of five directors, five accompanists, a full time executive director, and one full time staff member and four part time employees. In 1990 the Chorale formed its first Parent Council. The Parent Council took over the jobs of the working board allowing the Board of Directors to focus their attention on building a strong organization with sound policies and financial stability. The Board has always kept the mission of the Chorale to offer the children of the Pikes Peak Region a chance to participate in a program of musical and personal excellence in the forefront of their responsibilities.
(Please let me know in writing about concerts coming up in our general area, and they'll be posted here. This should save time during announcements, and allow greater accuracy of information. Any concert of interest to our members is welcome. Thanks to Colleen Peterson for suggesting this regular posting.)
