NEW LOOK FOR NEWS & NOTES
An email newsletter program that is free to non profit groups of Soli's size, Vertical Response, will bring a new look and format to your weekly newsletter.
Be sure to check your spam folder if you do not receive the newsletter, and add Vertical Response's address to your approved list to make sure it gets to your inbox.
Folks who are interested in helping the choir by taking over the newsletter duties are encouraged to email me at doglover1918@gmail.com. I am leaving the choir as soon as I finish the rehearsal files sometime this week. | |

AIR FORCE ACADEMY OUTREACH
We have been asked, and have accepted, the honor of singing the National Anthem at the opening of a sporting event, and the AFA alma mater at the close of another, at the Air Force Academy on Sunday, Feb. 14, 2010. Singers should arrive between 12:30 and 1:00 - Brad will announce the meeting location as soon as he knows.
Rehearsal for the music will be the 15 minutes following our regular rehearsal on Jan. 25, Feb. 1 and Feb. 8. (9:30-9:45 pm). Uniform Of The Day is to dress nicely, but NO Soli dresses or tuxes. The goal is to have about 10 singers per section to present a well balanced sound. |

EVERYBODY LOOKS GOOD IN BLACK!
Jill Patterson, our Mistress of Concert Attire, tells us that Monday, Jan. 25 and Feb. 1, dresses of various sizes will be available for trying on if you unsure about your size. This is scheduled for break time (about 8:30).
There are a small number of used dresses at a reduced price availble privately from former members. Jill can put you in touch.
GENTLEMEN, Jill will have an informational handout about tuxes, collar styles, cummerbunds, etc.
Sorry, no dresses (or soup) for you. |

MUSIC CDs and DVDs
Dave Kucera has Brahms Requiem CDs for those that ordered them last week. He will be taking orders for the next 2 weeks. This is a performance Soli did in English May 1998. Price is $5.00. This is a great rehearsal tool to help learn the music.
Also, Dave will be taking orders for a DVD video of our Christmas Concert of Dec. 12, 2009. He will be taking orders for the next 3 weeks. Price for the DVD is $15.00. |

COLORADO COLLEGE CHOIR NEEDS TENORS AND BASSES!
Deborah Teske, conductor of CC's choir is on the lookout for tenors and basses. They have plenty of women's voices this semester, but they really need tenors and basses. They are singing Bach's The Passion of St. John, in German. This is a magnificent piece!
There would not be any conflict in being a member of both choirs. CC's choir rehearses on Tuesday afternoons from 4-5:30 in the Cornerstone Arts Building. Their concert is on April 23, 2010. (Soli's concert is on May 1.) There are extra rehearsals in the last week before the concert, but they would likely not interfere with Soli's rehearsal schedule.
The score (Schirmer version ) is available at the CC bookstore for $12+tax. Deborah recommends using a rehearsal CD from Rehearsal Arts, which has a person singing, rather than just an instrument. This aids greatly in learning the German and the notes together. These cost $27.80, and can be ordered online at www.rehearsalarts.com.
Like Soli Deo Gloria, this choir is non-audition. The members are students and faculty from CC, and members of the community. Deborah is accepting very low altos in the tenor section. If you sing in this range, it is an opportunity to sing this glorious piece, sans the high notes! |
