A CALL TO SERVICE FOR ALL SOLI MEMBERS

Dearest Members of Soli,

Each of us puts in a great deal of time and effort, approximately 16 rehearsal days or 40 hours of rehearsal time, to reach our stated Soli Deo Gloria goal: "To have a community choir with a musical range that would not only perform the great choral masterpieces with orchestra, but that also would freely provide those masterpieces to the community, thereby enriching both performers and audience."

Performing for free is truly a labor of love and requires volunteer time from the membership. Many have already served and continue to serve on many different levels and their dedication is greatly appreciated. We have a need for new board members. The by-laws state that we must have at least six members but no more than twelve. As with any board, we have some members whose terms are ending and they have a need to return to choir-member status. For those who may have served in the past, or those who have never served, would you consider becoming a part of the Soli Deo Gloria board? We meet once a month, prior to rehearsal at the church, and once a month during the summer. If you have any questions about serving, please do not hesitate to talk to either Mike or Juliette.

If you are willing to serve please plan to attend the Annual Meeting and put your name in nomination.

BUTTER BRAID SALES' RESULTS

We had great success this year with the Butter Braids/Cookie Dough Sale. Overall 33 choir members raised $1200 from the sale of 300 butter braids and/or cookies. We had another 9 members raise an additional $200 in donations bringing our total for this fundraiser to $1400. Our top sellers, who earned a total of $332, were:

  • Terry Crum & Kathy Riley with $148 in sales. They won a foot spa for their efforts.
  • Tim Winkelbower with $104 in sales won a set of knives.
  • Stephanie Strachitas with sales of $80 earned a ladies' wallet.

We appreciate the hard work of these folks and that of all the members who collected orders or donations for the choir. However, we can't help but imagine that if every other choir member could have sold ONE item we might have collected another $300 or so. Fund raising is the only option we have to keep our dues down so please do what you can to help us out.
