| GREETINGS TO ALL OUR SOLI MEMBERS |
2010-10-18
| YOUR PRAYERS PLEASE...
Please keep Marie Suter and her family in your prayers. Jack’s funeral is today, Sunday October 17th from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. The service is at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 2111 Carlton, Colorado Springs.
Tom O’Hearn’s wife, Leona, is recovering.
If you have any prayer requests, please write down the particulars and give them to Juliette on rehearsal night. She will add them to the News and Notes. |

Needed: Please start on your email lists to send out announcements for the Christmas concert. We will soon have a generic announcement on the web, with the final flyer finished in early November.
Handbook: The hand book is now available on the Soli website Members' area. You can also access it from this link: Soli Handbook. Thanks to Terry for his efforts in making the handbook available. |
| REHEARSAL FILES
Tina Phillips has been working to make available download files for all our songs (individual parts and ensemble). The files for everything except the Vivaldi Gloria and a few of the most familiar hymns are now available. Unfortunately multiple versions of the Gloria exist and Ray is reviewing them to determine which is the one that corresponds to our music. As soon as a decision has been reached Tina will add the Gloria to the web site.
You may access the recordings by clicking on this link: Rehearsal Files. Once on the site you can download the songs and listen to them or burn them to a CD. Please note that Tina is providing a similar service to a couple of choirs and this link will include some music that is not for our choir. You can individually download just the pieces of music that are of interest to you. If you would like to have a CD but can't make one please let me, Marie McCaughan, know and I can burn a CD for you at no charge. Or if you just need a little help figuring out how to do it yourself I can help you with that too.
For those of you who are anxious to listen to the Gloria and feel adventurous, Tina has identified a couple of websites that offer recordings of the Gloria useful for training. She cautions that there is no guarantee that the recordings will exactly match your sheet music and you should use these at our own risk. Here's the links:
Learn Choral Music site: Gloria by Vivaldi
Choralia's Virtual Singer site: Choralia. On this page you will have to scroll down the page and select the Vivaldi Gloria from the list. |

Program Ad Sales:
In order for Soli to bring the music to the community we need to sell ads that are published in the Concert Program. We will have manila envelopes for you to start selling ads to businesses and those who wish to donate to our concert.
Anyone planning on selling advertisements in the Fall 2010 concert brochure please download the revised Advertising Agreement Form from the web site or use the paper copy that Juliette will provide. The previous version of the form on the web site contained the wrong concert date. Our apologies if this causes extra effort for anyone.
Butter Braid Sales:
If selling ads is not your thing, we have Butter Braids that are yummy to sell to family, friends, and neighbors. Butter Braids also offers cookie dough for sale. Oh my! These cookies are delicious. Juliette personally vouches for them.
Please return completed forms on October 18. Butter Braids and cookie dough will be delivered on October 25.
Let's make this the best sale ever. Remember, if the customer does not want the sweet, encourage a donation. Any amount over $4.00 is more than what we make selling the goodies. Good luck and thank you.
Donations:
Some of our members do not want to sell, so they make a donation. Also ask if your employer matches donations to non-profit organizations. We qualify!
If a monetary donation is not in your budget, you can help out in an area by donating your time. We always need volunteers! |
