Our Accompanist

Charlene Noland, a Colorado Springs native, currently serves as organist at Faith Presbyterian Church, is an accompanist for the choral and voice departments at Pikes Peak Community College, sings and plays with Abendmusik and accompanies an all female group, Sotto Voce. She is also Administrator for KCME's “Classics for Kids- Road Show,” a program that takes classical music into elementary classrooms. In Sacramento California, she was music director at Christ Community Church, and taught voice for many years. She is a proud alumnus of the University of Northern Colorado.

Ray Killian

Ray Killian, conductor
Ray Killian (BS Music Ed., Westminster Choir College ‘84; MM Conducting, University of IL ’89; EdD Education, University of IL <ABD>) arrived in Colorado Springs in 2009, from AZ, where he taught for three years and was an AZ Teacher of the Year nominee in 2008.
While living in the Washington, DC metro area, his choral and orchestral concerts and choral groups have been recognized by the Washington Post for their “choral felicity,” honored by the Smithsonian Institute, DC Mayor’s Arts Award, DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities, and invited to perform at the Justice Department and State Department numerous times. Ray sang with the Westminster Choir when they were ensemble recipients of two Grammy awards.
He studied conducting with Joseph Flummerfelt, Don V Moses, and Sir David Willcocks; church music with Eric Routley, Sue Ellen Page and Hal Hopson, and voice with Marvin Keenze and Ronald Hedlund. Ray’s vocal coaches include Martin Katz, Dalton Baldwin and John Wustman. Ray has taught and performed in Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, France, Belgium and throughout the Mid-Atlantic region.
He is currently Music Director and Director of Children’s Ministry at First Christian Church. This was Mr. Killian’s debut as the director of the Soli Deo Gloria Choir.

Brad Peterson

Brad Peterson attended the University of Northern Colorado, where he earned his Bachelor of Art degree in Music Education and a Master of Arts degree in Choral Literature and Conducting. He retired from Colorado Springs School District 11 after 30 years of public school teaching: eight years at Irving Junior High School and 22 years at Mitchell High School as Choral Conductor/Music Chair.
Mr. Peterson has served as an adjudicator and clinician throughout the States of Colorado and Nebraska. His choral ensembles have performed extensively in Colorado and have toured New York, California and Florida. Mr. Peterson has served as chairman of the Colorado All State Choirs, Received honorable mention as Teacher of the Year, and was the first winner of the Governor's Award for Excellence. He recently was honored with the 2001 Distinguished Arts Educator Award.
Mr. Peterson is also the Co-Founder of the Colorado Springs Children's Chorale and since 1993 has conducted the Summit Ensemble. Under his direction, the Summit Ensemble has performed throughout the community, the state of Colorado, Carnegie Hall in New York City, and St. Olaf College in Minneapolis. Additionally, three tours to Japan and a tour to the United Kingdom have introduced the Summit Ensemble to international audiences.
Mr. Peterson has performed professionally with Abendmusik and the Denver Cherry Creek Chorale. He also has toured Europe with William Hall's California Master Chorale and the Colorado Ambassadors of Music. This is Mr. Peterson's ninth season as conductor of Soli Deo Gloria Choir.
